To all franchise and service facility  dealers licensed in the State of Florida for licensing period 1/1/2018-12/31/2018

The Dealer License Section is providing the attached renewal application for the renewal of your Florida dealer license.
The renewal of your license is for the licensure period January 1, 2018 through December 31, 2018.

To ensure that your license stays active, your renewal application, all required documents and fees, must be submitted to the Department on or prior to December 31, 2017.

The following documents must be submitted to your local regional office to renew your license for the primary location:

  1. Completed license renewal application form HSMV 86720.
  2. $75 renewal fee.  If the completed application, all required documents and fees are not received by December 31, 2017, a $100 delinquent fee is due for a total renewal fee of $175.  Please make check payable to DHSMV.
  3. $150 biennial license renewal fee if you are opting for a biennial (two years) renewal. Checks must be made payable to DHSMV.
  4. An original surety bond or original irrevocable letter of credit, or an original continuation certification in the amount of $25,000.
  5. A copy of the proof of garage liability insurance which must include, at a minimum, $25,000 combined single limit liability coverage including bodily injury and property damage protection and $10,000 person injury protection.  Certificate of garage liability insurance is required and must be signed by the garage liability insurance agent.
  6. A copy of the certification from the Department of State, Division of Corporations showing current active registration of the business name and any fictitious name(s), if applicable.  On-line access to the Division of Corporation is:http://dos.myflorida.com/sunbiz/search/.

The following items must be submitted to renew your license for any supplemental locations:

  1. Completed license renewal application form HSMV 86720.
  2. $50 renewal fee.  Please make check payable to DHSMV.
  3. $100 biennial license renewal fee if you are opting for a biennial (two years) renewal.  Checks must be made payable to DHSMV.
  4. A copy of the surety bond or original irrevocable letter of credit, or an original continuation certification in the amount of $25,000 that was submitted with the primary location renewal application.
  5. A copy of the proof of garage liability insurance which was submitted with the primary location renewal application.  This certificate must include, at a minimum, $25,000 combined single limit liability coverage including bodily injury and property damage protection and $10,000 person injury protection.   A copy of the certificate of garage liability insurance is required and must be signed by the garage liability insurance agent.

Please submit your renewal application, supporting documentation and fees to the local Regional Office responsible for your dealership.  A list of the regional offices with their address and telephone number is attached to this email for your convenience and can be accessed on the Department’s website at: https://www.flhsmv.gov/pdf/dealerservices/ms_regional_offices.pdf

Delinquent renewal applications will only be accepted through February 14, 2018.  Thereafter, you will have to apply for a new dealer license with an original application form and required fees.  If you allow your license to expire, you must cease operations on January 1, 2018 and will be unable to engage in the motor vehicle sales transactions until the renewal process is completed.

If you have no intention of renewing you dealer license, please surrender you license for cancellation to the applicable regional office responsible for your dealership.

Any update to your corporation name, address or officers should be submitted using application form HSMV 86056, “Application for a license as a Motor Vehicle, Mobile Home, or Recreational Vehicle Dealer”.  This form can be accessed on the Department’s website at:https://www.flhsmv.gov/pdf/forms/86056.pdf Please submit this form to your local regional office with your renewal application.  For future reference, any change in corporate information should be submitted to your local regional office at the time the change occurs.

It is our goal to provide prompt and courteous service to our dealers.  Please submit your renewal application and all supporting documentation 30 days prior to the license expiration date of December 31, 2017.  If you have any questions, please contact your Regional Office (see attached list).
