As an important element of NADA’s success on Capitol Hill, the Dealers Election Action Committee (DEAC) helps elect individuals who understand the needs of new-car and -truck dealers. DEAC, NADA’s political action committee, contributes to those federal candidates who listen to the concerns of dealers and carefully weigh the costs of proposed laws and regulations against their purported benefits.
Since 1975, DEAC has contributed more than $25 million to the election campaigns of pro-business, pro-dealer congressional candidates. DEAC is governed by a 14-person board of trustees led by chairman Jack Tulley, from Nashua, N.H., and is staffed by three full-time employees in McLean, Va.
-
The money collected by DEAC is contributed directly to pro-business, pro-dealer congressional candidates. NADA pays for DEAC’s fundraising and administrative costs.
-
DEAC raised over $2 million from NADA members in 2011.
-
DEAC is bi-partisan and contributes to pro-dealer House and Senate candidates of both parties.
-
In the 2010 election cycle, DEAC was credited as being one of the nation’s top five largest trade association political action committees in terms of both total fundraising and contributions to federal candidates.
-
DEAC candidate contributions are made according to the written recommendations of the dealer leadership of each appropriate state and metro association.
-
DEAC contributed $2.5 million to candidates during the 2010 election cycle. 86% of supported candidates won on Election Day.
-
In 2011, over 2,800 NADA members contributed to DEAC.
